The QVFB was formed in April 1981 after a fire destroyed the home of a long time resident family. In the spirit of the old time bucket brigades, the Fire department retains the "Fire Brigade" in its name. The Fire Hall (W-200) was built and paid for by the community in 2000 and sits on 2 h. of Crown Land leased for this purpose through the Regional District.
