Goldhanger was located in the arid parts of Arizona. Unbeknownst to its inhabitants, an alien parasite landed on a rock formation nearby. US Military, under the command of General Wade Eiling, evacuated Goldhanger and two other towns, while the Justice League tried to contain the threat. The Dark Heart's minions were closing in on Goldhanger, but Atom managed to stop the core before it could consume the now evacuated town.
