George Crispe Whiteley (6 September 1845 - 28 May 1918) was a barrister, author of legal text books and educationist. Born in Richmond, he was the only son of George Friend Whiteley, a surgeon from Twickenham. Educated at Mill Hill School and Clapham Grammar School, he entered St John's College, Cambridge in 1863. He was President of the Cambridge Union Society in 1867. He graduated with a BA in 1868, was called to the bar at the Middle Temple in 1870 and MA in 1872,
