Championship Wrestling was a Boston-based regional promotion that existed from 1960 to 1978. Run by Gene Plumelli, Championship Wrestling serviced the New England territory during the Regional Era. By the late 1970's, the promotion began to feel the effects of the loss of top superstars and inferior production values to the Supreme Wrestling Federation. Championship Wrestling officially folded in July of 1978.
