The chameleon projector was a system used on small craft by the Federation Starfleet. The system would project an image across the hull of a vessel making it blend in with its surroundings. While the device was effective against visual sensors it did not mask the vessel from other sensors. Starfleet Intelligence Special Operations Branch used the chameleon projector system on some of their shuttlecraft.
