Richard Vanguysen was a heavy-accented Dutch thief who lived in Nepal's capital Kathmandu where he was known as "the Dutchman". He rarely ventured out from the city preferring to steal from "those who have too much." Vanguysen first met Indiana Jones in his home city when he mistook the archaeologist for someone else and tried to break into the apartment Jones was renting. From then on, Vanguysen became an occassional source of information for Jones about the Kathmandu black market.
