Saeed Jaffrey (born 8th January 1929 in Maler Kotla, India and died 15th November 2015 in London) appeared on Coronation Street as shopkeeper Ravi Desai during 1999. He had a long and varied television and film career since 1960 including appearances in Gandhi, The Far Pavilions, The Jewel in the Crown, A Passage to India and latterly in a substantial number of Bollywood movies.
