The Magical Council of the Union of South Africa is the magical body in charge of governing the wizarding population of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland. The headquarters of the Council is located in Johannesburg and is headed by a State Chancellor. Much like the Magical Congress of the United States of America, the Magical Council operated completely independently of its Muggle counterpart due to the wizarding population's disgust of Muggle South Africa's racial policies. After the fall of Apartheid in 1994, the Magical Council began cooperating with the Muggle governments.
