Justin Kloster is the central character in a pair of stories. In the first story, "Forty, Counting Down", the middle-aged Kloster, still suffering from the pain of his divorce, develops time travel technology in an attempt to prevent his divorce by laying a better foundation with his wife, Megan, while they were still young and in the beginnings of their relationship. He convinces his younger self to keep a low profile and avoid Megan with his older self romances her.
