Asahel was a son of Zeruiah (who was King David's sister), and the brother of Joab and Abishai. Asahel was renown for being fleet of foot, but his ability to run swiftly was his downfall. When Asahel pursued Abner in battle, Abner killed him with his spear. The name Asahel means "God has made."
