The Transformational Communications Office (now the Communications Functional Integration Office) was established on September 3, 2002, to coordinate, synchronize and direct execution of the Transformational Communications Architecture (TCA). The Transformational Communications Architecture is a joint effort between the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence and the Defense Information Systems Agency.
