The Archer Ribbon for Conspicuous Bravery was an award that was awarded to Starfleet officers who had conducted acts of significant bravery. Prior to 2293, James T. Kirk was a recipient of one of these awards. (TOS novel: Crucible: The Fire and the Rose). The award was presumably named in honor of, or enacted by, Jonathan Archer.
