Tom O'Leary was a Stretford police constable who was stationed on the Chatsworth Estate. His regular partners on the estate were PC Stan Waterman and former PC, later Sargeant Carrie Rogers. It is revealed through the series that Tom was put up for adoption as a baby and spent most of his youth in care homes. His partially Irish Catholic family viewed him as a mistake and initially shunned his attempts to reconcile, leaing him heartbroken.
