The majority (68.9%) of Slovaks belong to the Roman Catholic Church. Various Protestant denominations make up around 10.8% of the population (the largest bodies being the evangelical and reformed traditions). 4.1% of the population belongs to the Slovak Greek Catholic Church, and 0.9% of the population are Eastern Orthodox. The Greek Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Christians are mostly found in Ruthenian (Ukrainian) areas.
