Gritog was the King of Spekra. When a spaceship from Earth entered Spekran space, Gritog had his fighters force the vessel to land. He imprisoned its crew, believing them spies. When he later learned that the prisoners had been freed by the First Doctor, John and Gillian, he ordered his men to shoot them and destroy the TARDIS, but they failed in both tasks.
