A classically trained pianist, Cohen is most active on Broadway as a programmer for synthesizers, keyboards, and electronic drum kits, sometimes performing himself. He joined Avenue Q as a replacement keyboard/synthesizer player and associate conductor during the original run, and did much the same for Spamalot. Some of the shows he's programmed, both originals and revivals, include Young Frankenstein, Grease, Company, On the Town, West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, Rock of Ages, Finian's Rainbow, Rocky, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Lin Manuel-Miranda's In the Heights and Hamilton.
