Campbell worked for BBC Radio for 10 years between 1987 and 1997. In October 1988 he presented the music and interview show on the station just after Peel's programme which he named Into the Night, that went out from 10:00 pm–midnight Monday to Thursday. Campbell would often speak to Peel in his programmes to talk about Into The Night and also chit chat with him about topics such as football and music. Campbell helped in one of Peel's programmes on 23 November 1989, where he announced the winners of a competition to win one of ten copies of Flair's 1989 football compilation albums.
