The deep code level was a particularly arcane area of the computer system on board Deep Space 9. In 2370, Jadzia Dax looked for two weeks for a program that was buried there "right before the Cardassians left". Unable to explain to Kira Nerys how she found it, she claimed to have just gotten "lucky". A short while later, however, Dax told Benjamin Sisko that the program simply "disappeared" back into the deep code level. In fact, her success in surfing the deep code level was evidence that the enlarged gambling devices at Club Martus – a short-lived casino on the Promenade – were indeed changing the luck of the inhabitants of DS9. (DS9: "Rivals")
