Nyla Rang was the "adopted" daughter of bounty hunter Oren Rang; Nyla was born one year prior to the Battle of Yavin. Orphaned on Coruscant at the age of five, she learned to survive on her own. Two years later, she met Oren Rang, who grew fond of her and eventually took her under his wing. The two travelled and went on missions together, along with her father's crew, during the aftermath of the Galactic Civil War. They fought along side of each other until the end of the Yuuzhan Vong War, when her father was killed in action defending Mandalore from the Yuuzhan Vong.
