DeuTex is an editor that is able to compile and decompile WAD files. Based on the Doom Editing Utilities (DEU), it was written in 1994 by Olivier Montanuy and originally ran in DOS. It was later ported to various UNIX systems, Linux, and Microsoft Windows (with a graphical front-end, WinTex). Originally maintained by Olivier Montanuy, it is currently maintained by André Majorel. DeuTex will convert the format of a lump when extracting or building a WAD. Supported formats are .au, .voc, .wav, .bmp, .gif, and .ppm. Vb DeuTex is a version of DeuTex designed for Microsoft Windows.
