A Klarian instability was a seldom found glitch with a starship's impeller nodes, causing the impellers to randomly but cyclically flicker when the "bad" node was at rein peak. The freighter Wanderer simulated such an instability as an excuse for looking for replacement parts in the Secour System. (MA1)
