Mr. Richard Boucket is a minor government official (Minor Secretary of the Department of Transportation Treasury Division), and Mrs. Arisaema Boucket does her best to prod him up the social ladder. Their Third Upper apartment is often full of other government officials and socialites, as Mrs. Boucket is continually trying to make friends in high places, and then drag them to her little candlelight suppers and musical soirees.
