A contested action is a type of action in which one character directly opposes another. Examples might be an arm-wrestle, a game of chess, or a car chase. The Storyteller, Revised Storyteller and Storytelling systems all contain rules for contested actions. Typically the players of each character will roll their respective dice pools, and the player with the most successes wins the contest. Sometimes a contestant must beat their opponent by a certain margin to be declared the winner; this is especially true if the action is also extended.
