Elena Gheorghe is a Romanian singer. She began her music career as the lead singer of the band Mandinga (who would represent the country in the 2012 contest) before leaving in 2005 to launch a solo career. She represented her home country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song The Balkan Girls, which qualified for the final and finished in 19th place.
