Iuchi Maiko was the wife of a Unicorn ambassador in the Islands of Spice and Silk. She was involved in a romantic affair with the Merenae gaijin Esteban Cornejo. When Maiko was with child Esteban took her husband's life in a duel. Fearing the repercussions for his Mantis hosts, Esteban flung himself from the cliffs of Kyuden Gotei. After his death Maiko had Esteban's son, Rodrigo Cornejo.
