A kappa inhabited Old Larkin Pond in Larkin Mills, Illinois until the Summer of 2007. Alexandra Quick and Brian Seabury faced and fought off the kappa one afternoon when they returned to retrieve a bracelet that Quick had dropped at the Pond. The kappa attempted to drown Bonnie Seabury before it was finally subdued. Quick later discovered that the kappa had been placed in the Pond by Ben Journey in a roundabout attempt to kill her.
