Gateway was an important battleground during the First War of Enrothian Succession. As Morglin Ironfist, Lord Alamar, Lord Slayer, and Queen Lamanda battled each other for the crown, all four sent their armies to capture Gateway. The town, located in the center of the island, dominated its surroundings to such an extent that whoever held it, also controlled the island.
