Both the original and the spin-off's premise was ghost stories as told from the witness' point of view. Every episode also featured encounter reports from infamously haunted locations across the USA with some other locations in other countries only occasionally showcased. While the show features reenactments for the scenes, the interviews are done with the actual witnesses and homemade video evidence that they claim to have made during the encounter are also revealed.
