A stargate-eraser is used to close and scrap stargates in a matter of minutes, but the stargates can be rebuilt. It was first used by the Heglarean empire to close and scrap all of the stargates the Karnasaurs built intimidatingly by use of their ring-worlds. They first closed all of the gates on the uncolonized planets and moved on to close all stargates except on Karnasaur planets.
