David IV of Scotland (18 January 1780 - 24 July 1842), born Alexander Mackintosh, was the second King of Scotland of the Clan Mackintosh, reigning from 1833 until his death in 1843. Lacking the charisma of his father, he suffered constant inter-clan squabbles during his decade-long reign and often refused to deal with problems pertaining to the Lowlands, choosing instead to focus - to no great success - on mediating clan disputes at Inverness, whilst earning the Chattan Confederation the ire of many traditional allies such as Clan Cameron and Clan Mackenzie. He was succeeded by his son as David V, although his younger son would also one day be king as William III.
