The Imperial AV-9 was a wheeled cannon, able to be towed around the battlefield by a military ground vehicle. When deployed, the wheels were pushed out of the way, to allow the cannon's legs to gain footing and resist the effects of recoil every time the cannon was used. Imperial Sergeant Major Beilert Valance received enormous injuries when the AV-9 he was operating during the Assault on Doniphon was attacked by Rebel starfighters.
