Jules grew up with four brothers in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Her father, a former cop, left the force after he was unable to stop a spree shooter. He became a farmer in the hopes that leaving law enforcement would protect his children from the same sort of pain he faced, which causes some friction between him and Jules after she decides to become a police officer.
