The Spiny Capsule is a collectible capsule that appears in Mario Party 5. The character has the option of either using this capsule on themselves for a five coin fee, or throwing it on the board map and creating a trap space that allows any character to gain access to its effects. When a character uses the Spiny Capsule, Spiny will appear and require them to spin a roulette wheel. Spiny will then attack the opponent that was selected by the Roulette Wheel, causing them to lose ten coins, in which goes to the character that summoned the Spiny. In Story Mode, Spiny will only steal five coins from an opposing character.
