Emperor Palpatine, with his new apprentice and Supreme Commander of the Imperial Fleet, Luke Skywalker, declared a war of annihilation against the remaining Rebels. The victorious Imperial fleet at Endor, led by Fleet Admiral Firmus Piett from aboard the Executor, pursued the retreating Rebels and began engaging them. The Galactic Civil War was declared over, and the continued conflict became known as the Continuation War.
