Jade Ruen Vigos was born on Ando Prime, a frozen but mostly hospitable Mid Rim planet. Prior to the Imperial ban on podracing, Ando Prime was well known amongst fans for its numerous and rather difficult courses, due in large part to the narrow icy passages that often populated the racelanes. The ban did not cripple the planet's population, however, and it wasn't long before swoop racing caught on as a substitute. Unlike most Duros, Jade took to swoop bike racing instead of exploring the galaxy in a starcraft. Jade often participated in races as a teenager; in most cases she was usually the youngest one there by a significant margin. She remained a racer on Ando Prime well into her adult life - by now something of a local celebrity - until she recently left to explore the rest of the galax
