Kuonji Okonomiyaki Cart was owned by Ukyo's father. Ten years prior to the series, Ukyo gambled a deed on it to The Gambling King and lost, but by the time the king came to collect it, Ukyo had it no longer in her possession. Because soon after she lost the deed, her father proposed a idea to Genma Saotome of marriage between Ukyo and Genma's son Ranma, and offered the cart as Ukyo's dowry. Genma accepted, despite that Ranma already was engaged to a daughter of Soun Tendo. But Genma ran off with the cart and Ranma, leaving Ukyo without fiancé or dowry.
