Depending on the ending, the curse will either succeed leading to Alice's death, or Yuri will intervene and defeat the four masks' leader Atman and save both his and Alice's souls. Despite the possibility to save her, her death is the canonical ending, but due to the events of Shadow Hearts: Covenant, if the good ending is achieved, Yuri is sent back in time, and it is implied her death will be averted.
