John Melbourne Howard (10 August 1913 – 10 August 1982) was an accountant and politician. Born in Warlingham, Surrey, he was the eldest son of Harry Howard. Educated at Whitgift School, South Croydon, he became an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1935 and a Fellow in 1945. He was a partner to two companies of chartered accountants and a director of a number of companies. In 1951 he was Conservative parliamentary candidate in Hammersmith North, without success. He retired to Le Lavandou, France, where he died on his 69th birthday.
