It was created so that a person could speak into the machine, and their voice would be translated to sound like the voice of Professor Farnsworth's. However, when used by Professor Farnsworth himself, it produced an echo of his voice. This machine was later used by Dwight and Cubert to pull a prank on the Planet Express crew, sending them to the planet Dog Doo 8.
