The 1988 Winston Open was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) All-Star qualifier event held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on May 22, 1988. Sterling Marlin didn't lead much and didn't win by much, but his victory in the Open propelled him into the All-Star race. There, Marlin would finish as the runner-up.
