Sam Kydd was born 15th February, 1915 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and died 26th March, 1982 in London. He was an Irish actor who played Frankie Baldwin, father of Mike Baldwin in Coronation Street. Sam Kydd had made over 200 appearances in film and on TV since 1946 often appearing in 1940s and 1950s films as a squaddie or naval rating. In 1953 he appeared as Sam Weller in a TV adaptation of Pickwick Papers and between 1963 and 1965 was a regular as Orlando O'Connor in the TV serial Crane.
