Born in the year TA 2901 of the late-Third Age, Halbarad was destined to become a Ranger of the North like his father since he was highly skilled in weapons and woodlore. After turning 11 in the year TA 2912, his parents adopted a young six year old girl named Maia, who lost her family during an attack in her village and fled with many other refugees to Taurdal. Halbarad started to care about Maia and loved her as a sister. Sometimes, Halbarad would often take his new sister to the woods and they would play hide-in-seek.
