Ensign MacTara was a young male Starfleet officer who served on USS Voyager under Captain Kathryn Janeway during the 2370s. He sometimes worked in the biometrics department. Ensign MacTara died on a mission approximately one year and a half prior to the end of 2374. In 2374, after losing three years of her memories, captain Kathryn Janeway suggested that MacTara replace ensign Samantha Wildman when she was up for rotation to biometrics. Commander Chakotay had to inform the captain of his death a year and a half earlier. (JB: "Just Between Memories")
