King Lainoscopes is the reigning king of Langadine in its final years. When Lainoscopes came to power, he grew tired of the Karnids making pilgrimages to the Kencyr temple. He tried to break it up, and when he couldn't, he built it into the foundation of his new palace. After Kalan came to Langadine, the old king had her marry their cousin, hoping to breed another seeker. She had several sons, but no more daughters. When Kalan's husband died, Lainoscopes wanted her to remarry and try again.
