VDM008 was born on September 4, 1994 in the Drie Doring Mob. His mother was VDF001 and his father was most probably VDM006, the dominant male at the time. VDM008 was born with two litter-mate brothers named Arah(VDM007) and Keros(VDM009). The three brothers made it through their first year and became rovers when they reach adulthood. VDF001 died and their sister Mabili became the new dominant female. Most of the adult males left the group and in October 1995 the three brothers took to roving after several new wild males joined the group. The males soon discovered a lone female named Vivian. VDM008 mated with Vivian and the males stayed with her for a short while before taking to roving again after two weeks.
