Graduated from the QMJHL in 1984, Adey spent 5 seasons in the International Hockey League with the Toledo Goaldiggers, the Fort Wayne Komets and the Peoria Rivermen, Adey left North America in 1988 to join the Panthers. He became an instant hit, scoring 153 points in only 34 games in his first season. Adey had 8 consecutive 100 points or more seasons from 1988 to 1996 and became a valued member of the British National Team in 1995, wearing the British colours in 5 World Championships. He retired in 2004.
