Frederick Hooper Dane (c.1871-1955) was a businessman and Conservative Party politician active in the Ilford area. A cigar merchant, in 1894 he moved to Ilford. In 1906 he was elected to Ilford Urban District Council as a councillor for Cranbrook ward. He was a councillor for thirty-nine years and was the first Mayor of Ilford following its incorporation as a Municipal Borough in 1926-27. He was also a member of Essex County Council and a justice of the peace for the county.
