The Thief stole the Protopet so that he could launch it into space to destroy it, He also built a robotic army and hired the Thugs-4-Less to aid him against Megacorp. Ratchet travelled to the Thief's base and defeated him, but he later shows up again and reveals that he is Angela Cross, a female Lombax who the aids Ratchet by showing him that he was working for the real villains all along.
