The Chinese Gem dealer was a crooked merchant who met Phillip Vanderdecken in the Barbary Shark. He presented the Dutch pirate with precious emeralds to excite his greed and enticed him to go on a dangerous journey to Valparaíso to meet his agent and acquire more gems in exchange for great riches.
