RICHARD RIDER COMMENT: I'm both amused and appalled to read periodic by "Smart Growth" advocates give rationalizations for the high cost of most California urban housing. These folks tout every conceivable reason for high cost of housing except the one that really matters: government-imposed scarcity of housing supply. Economics 101 is unknown to such land restriction zealots.
